Day 2: Alice Springs Walking Tours

Day 3: West MacDonnell Ranges Tour

Stop At: Simpsons Gap, Burt Plain NT 0872, Australia
The panoramic landscapes of the West MacDonnell Ranges are extraordinary for their immensity and array of sunburnt oranges, maroons and purples. View spectacular outback scenery and take photos as we travel along through magnificent Outback Country, stopping at the many historic locations. As we depart town, we will stop at the historical Flynn’s Grave Memorial. Enjoy beautiful walks at both Simpsons Gap and Standley Chasm.

West MacDonnell National Park stretches 161km west of Alice Springs and will draw you in with its majestic beauty.

Cool scenic gorges are important refuges for plants and animals, many are found only here and some are relicts of a bygone era of tropical forests.

Day 4: Palm Valley Day Tour

Wwe’ll take you down the very edge of the Finke River and into the amazing Palm Valley. You’ll see the important sights and visit an Aboriginal community, Hermannsburg, known to the local Arrernte people as ‘Ntaria’.

Spectacular Finke Gorge National Park covers an area of 46,000 hectares and includes the impressive Palm Valley.
Palm Valley is home to a diverse range of plant species, many that are rare and unique to the area, including the red cabbage palm (Livistona mariae), which gives the area its name.
There are around 3,000 adult palms and thousands of juveniles, which are extremely sensitive to visitor impact.
Visit the park to see the mesmerising landscapes that inspired the renowned watercolourist Albert Namatjira who was born and grew up in the nearby community of Hermannsburg.
The park is dissected by the Finke River, believed to be one of the oldest rivers in the world.

Day 5: Ayers Rock Day Trip from Alice Springs Including Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Sunset BBQ Dinner

Stop At: Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Red Centre, Northern Territory
Travel to your first stop at Erldunda Roadhouse for a buffet breakfast. You'll take rest stops during the 6-hour drive and your guide provides a packed lunch to eat during the final 10 miles (18 km) that lead to World Heritage-listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Upon arrival in the national park, head to Walpa Gorge for your first walk. View the dome-shaped rock formations of Kata Tjuta from a close vantage point as you walk about 1.5 miles (2.6km). Then learn more about the Aboriginal Pitjantjatjara people and Central Australia at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. Next, go to the base of Uluru (Ayers Rock) for the Mala Walk, which features fine examples of Aboriginal rock art, plus sheer rock walls and important sites for the Aboriginal people. Watch the sun set over Uluru. Sip a glass of bubbly and then feast on a classic Australian barbecue dinner buffet. When night falls, start the drive back to Alice Springs where your tour ends with hotel drop-off late at night.

Australia’s Red Centre is home to natural wonder and cultural landmark, Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). Hike around the soaring rock domes, which glow at sunrise and sunset. Located approximately 40km west of Uluru, the ochre-coloured shapes are an intriguing and mesmerising sight.
Anangu traditions
Meaning ‘many heads’, Kata Tjuta is sacred to the local Aboriginal Anangu people, who have inhabited the area for more than 22,000 years. It forms an important focus of their spiritual life. As a visitor you can join a cultural tour to learn some of the region’s sacred history and Dreamtime stories.
Uluru–Kata Tjuta National Park is Aboriginal land and jointly managed by its Anangu traditional owners and Parks Australia. The park is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Area for both its natural and cultural values.
